Dramatic Opportunities

The Dramatic Theatre Company is seeking community members to volunteer both onstage and behind the scenes in various roles in our productions.

As a community theatre company our objective is to welcome performers of all skill range who wish to further their skills onstage and produce quality work for Manitoba audiences to enjoy.

Should their be no open casting calls, interested performers are still encouraged to submit their portfolio for consideration.

Current Auditions:

Last updated: February 27, 2021.

About the show:

Anne of Green Gables / Scenes from Avonlea is the classic story of the Canadian red-head we all know and love.  The script highlights the best Anne scenes from girlhood to maturity.  Anne will run virtually live April 2-4, 2021 for spring break to enjoy as a family

** ALL SHOWS will be presented virtually however each performance will be presented live.

Who are we seeking:

Community performers ages 10+ are invited to audition.

We are also seeking a technical stage manager who will assist us with streaming the performance live!

Rehearsals & Showtimes:

Rehearsals for Anne will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6PM to 8:30PM and Sunday afternoons from 1PM to 3:30PM beginning on around the top of March 2021.

Rehearsals and the performance run will be shot live from our acting studio at 203 Cathedral Avenue. The show will be streamed live online via ZOOM.  Just like live theatre, each show will be virtually performed live with no in-person audience and streamed live on ZOOM.

A small number of conflicts may be accommodated if known in advance and do not fall on blocking dates, the technical dress rehearsals, or performances.

Most rehearsals will be held in person at our studio at 203 Cathedral Avenue with some held virtually online.  The following in-person protocols will be in place to ensure actor and crew safety.

  • Social distance will be observed in rehearsals.

  • Masks must be worn during rehearsals even when onstage.

  • Masks may only be removed when on stage during the live performances.

  • All actors and crew must use hand sanitizer upon arrival at the studio.

  • Actors and crew must arrive no earlier than 10-minutes before and depart directly after rehearsal closure.

  • No one other than cast and crew may enter the acting studio. Rides are asked to wait outside for the person they are picking up.

  • No in-person audience members during the run of the performance.

  • When appropriate, virtual rehearsals may happen.

We miss the thrill of the stage and while in-person audiences give the extra thrill right now we can’t congregate as a community and must express our love for the stage virtually.

We know the curtain will rise on in-person performances one day soon!

How to apply:

To express interest in this production please email your resume and headshot to the attention of The Dramatic Theatre Casting Desk at audition@dramatictheatrecompany.com.

We kindly ask that interested performers also state unavailable rehearsal dates as casting our decisions are based on both availability and suitability for the role. Performers should prepare a 2-minute monologue for presentation during the audition.

The Dramatic Theatre Company is a community theatre that operates with a volunteer cast and staff who celebrate local community theatre in Winnipeg and dedicate their love for the stage to help production quality community theatre for family audiences to enjoy!
